The latest round of Euro NCAP results are announced today, with another round of high scores from a range of superminis and family cars. But none of the cars tested could manage more than three stars for pedestrian protection. Daihatsu's Materia supermini and, surprisingly, the Honda Civic trailed the pack with only four stars for occupant safety, but the Merc C-class, Renault Laguna, Volvo V70 and – impressively – the tiny Mazda 2 all came out with the top score.
The Alfa Brera & Alfa Spider get new engines and a new trim option
Alfa Romeo introduced new engine options last year on the Alfa 159 – the 1750iTBi Petrol engine and the 2.0 litre JTDm diesel – which are now about to find their way in to the Alfa Brera and Alfa Spider. Which is a far from bad move. The 1750i Turbo manages to deliver 200bhp and a decent amount of torque – 236lb/ft from only 1400rpm – which makes it distinctly brisk – 7.7 & 7.8 seconds respectively to 62 mph for the Brera and Spider.
Bentley Continental GT V8 will arrive at Detroit 2012
We’ve known for a while that Bentley and Audi are developing a V8 engine that is destined for the Continental GT. In fact, we exclusively spied the V8 Continental GT (actually, a V8 Continental GTC) just a few weeks ago. But now comes news that the Bentley Continental GT V8 will arrive at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
